A cupcake made out of magazine ads. This was on a birthday card I made for my friend Lesley.
Turn those useless catalogs into a piece of modern home decor with this junk mail typography collage tutorial from Mod Podge Rocks!
Agreed: Very cool.
A few other items from Unconsumption have focused on junk mail, used to make paper snowflakes, pouches, and a skirt.
But our favorite ever was the Yellow Owl Workshop “Junk Mail Stationery” contribution to The Uncollection (as seen in the mighty Poppytalk, no less!).

So, if you haven’t already noticed, everyone and their mothers have been giving themselves the title of “Photographer”. With the growing popularity of the craft, I notice several photographers never making the effort to better themselves. They cling onto bad habits, have the wrong mindsets, and never have motivation. With photography being the only thing I feel like I properly “know how to do”, I decided to write this blog post consisting of information I wish I knew when I first started. I have been shooting for 4 years, and about 99% of this information has been learned this year from constantly shooting, talking with other photographer friends, and past mistakes.
This blog post is aimed for those who aim to shoot portraiture, but some of this information could be transposed into other forms of photography.
